Heather Miller-Kuhaneck, MS OTR/L BCP
is an instructor at Sacred Heart University's Graduate Program in
Occupational Therapy. She is SIPT certified and practiced for many years
specializing in intervention with children with autism. Mrs. Kuhaneck has
worked in rural and inner city schools, outpatient clinics specializing in
OT using Ayres sensory integrative intervention approach, early intervention
settings, inpatient settings, and privately in children's homes. She is a
past editor of the American Occupational Therapy Association's School System
Special Interest Section Quarterly, the author and editor of OT/PT Update, a
quarterly research newsletter for pediatric therapists, and is the editor of
Autism: A Comprehensive Occupational Therapy Approach. She has authored and
co-authored lessons for AOTA's online course on school based practice and
has presented both locally and nationally on sensory integration, autism,
and the Sensory Processing Measure. Mrs. Kuhaneck is also on the founding
board of directors of Soul Friends (www.soul-friends.org),
a non-profit organization dedicated to providing humane education and animal
assisted therapy to children.
Diana Henry, MS, OTR/L
is the founder and president of Henry Occupational Therapy Services Inc.,
opened her clinic specializing in sensory integration in 1984 and developed
occupational therapy programs for various school districts in Arizona,
emphasizing a collaborative model. Ms. Henry is both SIPT and SCSIT
certified. She earned the 1997 Outstanding Occupational Therapist Award from
the Arizona Occupational Therapy Association and the 2001 Award for
Outstanding Therapeutic Contribution from the Developmental Delay Resources.
Ms. Henry and her husband Rick embarked on Ateachabout in 2000 traveling
across America and abroad assisting communities in developing safe
environments in schools, clinics, and homes. Ms. Henry presents workshops on
sensory integration, sensory processing disorders, and on the Sensory

Learning Disability Association (NVLD). She is an honorary member of the

was made an honorary member of the Sensory Integration Network UK and
Ireland. Ms. Henry produced the Tools for Teachers TM and the Tools for
Students TM videos/dvds and together with her husband, she developed the
Tool Chest Starter Kit TM, wrote the Tool Chest TM, Tools for Parents TM and
the SI Tools for Teens TM handbooks.
Tara
J. Glennon, Ed.D., OTR/L, BCP, FAOTA
is an Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy at Quinnipiac University
in Hamden, Connecticut. She owns the Center for Pediatric Therapy, a
pediatric private practice with four offices in Connecticut, and has
recently begun a web resource for pediatric clinicians called OT for Kids (www.otforkids.com).
Dr. Glennon has authored numerous works on pediatric practice and has
lectured extensively on both the local and national levels. Her AOTA Roster
of Fellows award for Professional and Community Education in Pediatrics
clearly exemplifies her commitment to pediatric practice.
Diane Parham, Ph.D., OTR, FAOTA is an Associate Professor
and Coordinator of the MA program for Occupational Science and Occupational
Therapy at the University of Southern California. She is highly regarded for
her work on sensory integration and on play as occupation. Her research
interests lie primarily in the areas of praxis, sensory modulation, autism,
learning disorders, play, and the effectiveness of occupational therapy for
children. She received her BS in Occupational Therapy at the University of
Florida in 1974 and her MA in Occupational Therapy from USC in 1980. Under
the mentorship of A. Jean Ayres, she entered doctoral studies, and completed
a Ph.D. in Education at UCLA in 1989. Upon returning to USC as a faculty
member, she became a key organizer of the groundbreaking Ph.D. program in
Occupational Science, and more recently, the Doctor of Occupational Therapy
(OTD) degree program. Currently, she is on the Executive Board of The
Association for the Study of Play, a multidisciplinary organization of
researchers who share a common interest in the phenomenon of play, and she
is co-author of Parham and Fazio's text Play in Occupational Therapy for
Children. She is the recipient of two nationally recognized awards from the
American Occupational Therapy Foundation: the A. Jean Ayres Award for her
research and teaching in the area of sensory integration, and the Leadership
Commendation Award for her contributions to occupational therapy faculty
career development.
Cheryl L. Ecker, MA, OTR/L, BCP is an occupational
therapist, published researcher, co-founder of "The Power of Playfulness"
workshops, and the Director of Therapy Services at Therapy In Action, a
private practice clinic for children in the Los Angeles area serving
approximately 350 families. Her research and practice interests include
sensory integration, play as an occupation, and feeding disorders. She
received her bachelors degree in occupational therapy from the Medical
College of Georgia in 1990 and her advanced masters degree in occupational
therapy from the University of Southern California in 1996. Cheryl is
currently a national board certified pediatric occupational therapist. She
is also state board certified in advanced practice for feeding and
swallowing, and a certified SIPT administrator through USC/WPS. She has been
a guest speaker for multiple universities and professional conferences, and
is passionate about speaking in the community to increase awareness of
sensory integration and occupational therapy.
